WEBINAR: Improve Your Visibility - The Benefits of Using Pedestrian Reflectors

Updated: Aug 27, 2020

Pedestrian deaths due to traffic crashes are on the rise in the United States, particularly at night. High risk groups include members of tribal communities, children, and older adults. While driver behavior and road infrastructure play large roles in these crashes, pedestrians can implement several strategies to improve their visibility. Such strategies include making eye contact with drivers, using crosswalks when available, and wearing pedestrian reflectors. This webinar will focus on the benefits of using pedestrian reflectors, a Finnish invention of the 1950s. Participants will learn about the history of pedestrian safety reflectors, as well as what to look for when selecting reflectors. A person wearing a high-quality reflector at night is up to three times more visible to drivers than a person not wearing a reflector. With proper education and the right gear, it is our hope that more people can walk safely in their communities.

Presenter: Anna Kattan is the owner of AliKat Reflectors, a supplier of the original Finnish safety reflector. She lives in Orem, Utah.

Thank you for all you do to make our community a safer place! Sincerely, Jerrod K. Moore, Program Manager
