Cassandra Herring has been a traffic safety advocate for more than 8 years. She first realized her passion for injury prevention at the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma as the Injury Prevention Coordinator. In this role, she worked with tribal and community members teaching children and adults about occupant protection, distracted driving and impaired driving. Cassandra was then honored to spend 4 years at Safe Kids Oklahoma providing education and information about all areas of childhood injury prevention, specializing in traffic safety. Currently, Cassandra is a Program Manager at the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and continues working to make traffic safety in Oklahoma a priority. Cassandra became a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician in in October of 2012 and became an instructor 6 months later. She received training in Special Needs transportation in February of 2014. Cassandra has received the honors of rural Child Passenger Safety Technician of the year.
